WORKFLOW IN PREPARING LOD 400

A. REFERENCES

  1. The required Revit version to be used for the project shall be provided by the Client.

  2. The Client shall provide all required reference models to be used for LOD 400 preparation, including:

    • Architectural

    • Structural

    • MEP

    • Steel

    • Façade

    • Interior Design (ID)

    • Other relevant disciplines

  3. All reference models shall:

    • Use the same project coordinates.

    • Be compatible with the required Revit version.

    • Be properly coordinated and suitable for use as project references.

  4. The Client shall provide the required sheet sizes and drawing standards, such as A0, A1, A2, A3, or A4.

  5. The Client shall assign an ELV Design Engineer or Project Representative as the main point of contact for design-related questions, clarifications, and coordination requirements.

B. REVIT FAMILY DEVELOPMENT
  1. The ELV Design Engineer or Project Representative shall provide the required information and specifications for the Revit families to be used for each ELV system.

  2. Revit families shall be created or modified according to the approved requirements, including:

    • Correct geometry

    • Required dimensions

    • Mounting arrangement

    • Connectors, where applicable

    • Correct symbols and annotations

    • Required parameters and information

  3. Once the Revit families have been created, a family review and approval meeting shall be conducted with the ELV Design Engineer or Project Representative before proceeding with the main modelling stage.

C. MODELING
  1. After the Revit families have been finalized and approved, the ELV Design Engineer or Project Representative shall provide the required installation and mounting information, including:

    • Ceiling-mounted devices

    • Wall-mounted devices

    • Floor-mounted devices

    • Standard mounting heights

    • Required installation clearances

    • Other project-specific installation requirements

  2. The BIM Modeler shall develop the ELV model based on the approved design information, installation requirements, and reference models.

  3. Once the initial modelling is completed, a coordination and review meeting shall be conducted between the BIM Modeler and ELV Design Engineer to verify:

    • Device locations

    • Mounting heights

    • Equipment orientation

    • Coordination with other disciplines

    • Installation requirements

  4. Any required adjustments shall be incorporated into the model before proceeding to the next stage.

D. TAGGING AND DIMENSIONING
  1. Once the ELV modelling has been completed and reviewed, the BIM Modeler shall prepare PDF drawings based on the coordinated Revit model for review by the ELV Design Engineer.

  2. The ELV Design Engineer shall provide the required information or sketches for:

    • Device tagging

    • Conduit tagging

    • Cable/routing information

    • System identification

    • Legends

    • Other required drawing annotations

  3. Based on the approved tagging and routing information, the BIM Modeler shall develop the 2D documentation within the Revit model to meet the project's LOD 400 requirements.

  4. Tags and dimensions shall be coordinated with the model and shall accurately represent the approved design and installation information.

E. SECTIONS AND DETAILS
  1. The BIM Modeler shall prepare section views and installation details based on the coordinated LOD 400 model and project requirements.

  2. Required details may include:

    • Device installation details

    • Mounting details

    • Equipment installation

    • Typical sections

    • Coordination details

    • Other project-specific details

  3. Legends shall be created based on the approved information and sketches provided by the ELV Design Engineer.

F. SHEET TEMPLATE AND DRAWING SETUP
  1. The BIM Modeler shall prepare the Revit sheet template/title block based on the Client's requirements.

  2. The proposed sheet template shall be submitted to the Client for review and approval before final documentation.

  3. The ELV Design Engineer or Client shall provide the required:

    • Drawing numbers

    • Drawing titles

    • Reference numbers

    • Project codes

    • Sheet numbering

    • Other required drawing information

  4. All sheets shall follow the approved Client/project drawing standards.

G. FINAL REVIEW AND SUBMISSION
  1. Once the LOD 400 model and drawing documentation have been completed, the BIM Modeler shall prepare a PDF drawing set for final review.

  2. The ELV Design Engineer or Client Representative shall review the submitted drawings and provide comments, corrections, or approval.

  3. Any comments or required revisions shall be incorporated into the Revit model and documentation.

  4. Once all required revisions have been completed and the drawings are approved, the LOD 400 model and drawing package shall be considered ready for final submission.

  5. The final deliverables shall be submitted in accordance with the Client's required:

    • Revit version

    • File naming convention

    • Drawing standards

    • Sheet numbering

    • PDF requirements

    • Model requirements

    • Other project-specific BIM requirements
